The Smulders Group joins the forces of fifteen separate companies. Each of them with its own specialism in the field of steel processing. Owing to this unique form of cooperation the Smulders Group may claim whole-heartedly that it can engineer all aspects in the field of steel. That is the power of the Smulders Group: being large by combining the advantages of small-scaledness. 1966: the foundation was laid. In 1966 the company was started by Mr G. Smulders as a one-man business in ironmongery, aimed at the regional agrarian market. During the seventies Smulders knew a growth that could not be stopped. Growth that was mainly realised by decisiveness, nerve and innovative ability. Including modernising steel products in its program, Smulders enlarged its number of customers in a short period of time. New markets, like house-building, were served successfully. The Smulders company grew from a one-man business into a respected manufacturer of steel constructions and component parts for the building industry and different branches of industry. Focusing on the future Owing to increase in scale, buy-outs in the eighties and nineties and by setting up subsidiary companies in Poland and Portugal, the number of customers of the Smulders Group was also extended considerably beyond the border of The Netherlands. Broadening of the product portfolio during the nineties were at the bottom of the Smulders Group as it is active now. The various companies of the Smulders Group are cooperating closely in may projects. In this way the most can be made of everyone's individual specialism.
